READ! READ! READ!
Your child needs to read an average of twenty minutes every day outside of school in order to become a successful, fluent reader. Make reading an important part of your whole family's life now, and your child will reap the rewards for a lifetime. This is particularly true for first and second graders. By the time your child enters second grade he/she will be expected to be able to read a wide variety of phonetically-spelled words, plus all of the high frequency words they will be introduced to through our reading program. By the time your child enters third grade they will be expected to be a fluent reader who is "reading to learn", rather than "learning to read." Lots of reading, in school and outside of school, is the only way to make sure your child succeeds. Make this year count!
